Nancy Ann Blankenship 73, of New Berlin, Illinois, was granted her wings on November 8th, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her family.  Her final days was spent with her immediate family and loved ones nearby.

Nancy was born on May 7th, 1945 in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph Sheppard and Opal Mae Clayton who preceded her in death, as well as several brothers and sisters. Nancy met the love of her life, Fred Blankenship, and they were married November 29th, 1966.  Nancy and Fred had three children: Brad, Tammy, and Brian. She had seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren whom she dearly loved.

Nancy and Fred resided in Springfield, Illinois for some time before moving to Tucson, Arizona in 1973.  Some of Nancy’s greatest accomplishments: she was a local seamstress, and later became an instrumental part of Hughes Aircraft as an instructor on the Tomahawk Missile Program. She was employed for fifteen years before retiring in 1999 and moved to New Berlin, Illinois.

Nancy then began a career in home health as a caregiver for the elderly. It was her compassion that gave others joy.  Nancy will be remembered by the people whose lives were touched.  Her loving husband Fred, described her as “One in a Million.”

Some of Nancy’s greatest pleasures were: canning, playing the slots and cards, making crafts, fishing, traveling in her RV to Branson, MO, and Kentucky, yard selling with her sister Barb, but her greatest love was making candies for the holidays.  Nancy was known in the community for the best peanut brittle and caramels.   Nancy loved bringing smiles to others.

A memorial will be held at the Blankenship residence on Saturday, November 17th at 12:00 pm,103 W. Elm St. New Berlin, Il 62670.
